In order to change some things in your life, you need to….

... change some things in your life...

Simple words, but not always simple to implement...

The thing I love about what I do is meeting with the variety of people and I am very privileged that I get to look into their lives and sometimes very personal and very private elements, I mean how many people do you meet for the first time and they hand over their bank statements and financial records to you, it happens all the time to me!

In my day to day work I get asked all sorts of advice on how to run a business, mainly business owners who are determined to win, they want to hit that million pound mark, questions from marketing, profit margins, systems and even complete changes in direction, these are all decisions that either are changing or need some action to make change...

The market does not care, the business world doesn't give a crap about feelings, emotions or people, the economy marches on day after day doing what it does and it is up to us to embrace the opportunities, read, learn and do what we can to make our business work...

But above all, make sure you enjoy the journey, don't forget to be happy...

I started my business career in 1991, and have been happy, I have been unhappy, I have experienced divorce, messed up, lost money and made money, but the one thing that has been constant is change, business never stands still and if you are not achieving everything you set out to achieve, then for you to change some things in your life, you need to change some things in your life...

Even in my own business, I am constantly looking for change, and over the many years, I have made lots of small behind the scenes changes to constantly improve efficiency.

I've made great big changes that resulted in sacking staff with poor attitudes, or ceasing to work with other staff that simply didn't share the same vision as me...

heck!!!...

I even sack clients who moan and complain and are too lazy to make the effort...

Sometimes, when faced with change we allow our emotions to get the better of us and we try to calculate the risk and the more we think about the change and implications, the more we worry and fret, and just when you step out and start the journey of change, it seems everyone and everything is against you..

So why make change in your business?

To be happy and to make money, that's pretty much the main reasons for being in business and if you find you are not happy and not making enough money, then you must seek to make change...

A while back I made some big changes, I implemented a brand new piece of software to help automate our admin process, now this is no small piece of software that has two buttons like a phone app!!  This is a monster bit of kit, it connects my whole team, diary, task lists, contacts, email, website and invoicing.  It's absolutely awesome, but we have had to change our entire admin set up and process to make it work and at the same time we also moved offices and built a new website...

We could have stayed doing the same old thing, heading in the same direction, but these changes were implemented for a reason... to make more money and have an easier happy life...

Was it worth it?  Absolutely...
